Today’s Prayer Focus

“Alleluia, alleluia!  Hearts to heaven and voices raise; sing to God a hymn of gladness, sing to God a hymn of praise; He who on the cross a victim for the world’s salvation bled…..Jesus Christ, the King of Glory, now is risen from the dead.” (Hymn 477)

Let us pray…

Dear Father in Heaven, remind us that even if we cannot meet in corporate worship to celebrate the Resurrection, we can celebrate in our hearts and with those with whom we come in contact.  Help us remember all our days that YOU, and YOU alone are still in charge and YOUR word will NEVER return to YOU void.  And the people of God say, Amen!

Heavenly Father, YOU have given us a “new life” in our baptism.  Teach us to remember that “new life” daily and help us to walk as a “child of the light”.  Help each and every one of us to show others that YOU live in me.  Give us wisdom, compassion and love in our words and actions toward all.  Lord, may it be so.  Amen.

PRAYER FOR THIS TROUBLING TIME DURING COVID-19

The Lord answer you in the day of trouble!  The name of the God of Jacob protect you! (Psalm 20:1)

O Lord, our God, we call out to YOU in our time of confusion and fear.  Give us a strong faith in this time of danger and confusion.  Guide our leaders in making wise decisions for the good of our state and our country and give our people patience and the willingness to obey these directives.   Keep us ever mindful that YOU, and YOU alone are in charge and can bring us safely through these trying times.  Help us to remember and sincerely pray the words of this old hymn:  “I walk with Jesus all the way, His guidance never fails me; Within His wounds I find a stay When Satan’s power assails me; And by His footsteps led, My path I safely tread.  In spite of ills that threaten may, I walk with Jesus all the way.”

PRAYER FOR THIS TROUBLING TIMES DURING COVID-19

I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.  The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. (Psalm 34:4&7)

Lord God, Heavenly Father, YOUR children call upon YOU for help, patience, and strength during this difficult time.  Help us to be strong in our faith; to be that beacon shining on the hill; that we, in turn, can be a blessing and help to others.  And the people of God say “Amen”!

PRAYER FOR THIS TROUBLING TIME DURING COVID 19

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult. (Psalm 46:1-3)

Heavenly Father, during this difficult time as we deal with the Covid 19 virus, be with YOUR children.  Give them the strength and the faith needed to carry on during this unprecedented situation in our country and the world.  Remind us daily to turn to YOU in prayer; comfort all in need; and bring us safely through this crisis.  Remind us daily that the LORD of hosts is with us and YOU, YOU alone are our refuge.  We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Letter from Pastor Arnold

pastedGraphic.png

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,

After much prayer and deliberation over the unusual times that we are going through, I met recently with both the Board of Elders and the Board of Trustees, as well as with the church staff. Together, we have decided that the most caring and loving thing we can do is to suspend all public worship services beginning Friday, March 20, 2020 until the time comes when we can do so safely and in accordance with directives from national and local authorities. This would include the Bible Studies that I lead on Sunday and Tuesday mornings and all regularly scheduled meetings. Most, if not all, of our lay-led studies have suspended meeting at the church, as well.

As you might assume, this is a gut-wrenching thing for me to do, since I have been called by God and the congregation to proclaim the Word, lead worship and administer the sacraments according to God’ divine directive. With that in mind, we will be live-steaming and recording services on both Saturday afternoons and on Sunday mornings that you may still hear the Word of God and sing His praises, participating in the worship of our Lord on a regular basis.

You will be receiving regular communications from us that will enable you and instruct you on how to connect electronically to our services. I will also be announcing a schedule providing opportunities for you to receive the Lord’s Supper periodically here at church.

Please do not hesitate to call me or the church office if we can help you with any need. The office staff will largely keep a regular schedule during this time and we will notify you if that changes.  The Elders will be checking up on the folks and we will assure that the most vulnerable will be taken care of at this time.

Please do not forget that a portion of our worship is the sacrifice of our tithes and offerings. Bills and payroll will need to continue to be met. If you and your household are not financially burdened or challenged by the crisis at hand, we would appreciate receiving your regular offerings when it is convenient for you to get them to us.

Please visit our website often – risen-savior.com – and click the “Coronavirus & LCRS” link for frequent updates

May the God who has called us His own and saved us for all eternity protect us and richly bless us during this difficult time.

In Christ’s never-ending care,

Pastor Todd Arnold+

And friends in Christ Jesus, God loves you! He loves you very much. Amen. pastedGraphic_1.png
